Fusion & Boot Camp Annoyance
I keep getting the same error trying to start my Boot Camp partition under VMWare Fusion: “The Boot Camp partition is not prepared to run as a virtual machine. It appears that Windows did not shut down cleanly the last time it was used.”
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a clean solution to this if you are unable to get Windows to run as a startup disk via the normal Boot Camp boot. I’m on round 3 of trying to workaround this problem. There are no shortage of comments on the topic, but even the terminal & fdisk solution didn’t work. Booting to Windows directly just hangs during chkdsk (I let it sit 24 hours to no avail.)
I had my old Parallels Boot Camp virtual image files laying around, so now I’m trying the crazy trick of reimporting those. (long shot at best.)
Drop me an email if you know a solution for this!

Did you get yours working? VMWare Fusion booted my Windows 7 partition correctly on the first time I booted it after I installed VMWare, but it doesn’t want to do it after that.
I did notice that I have to run chkdisk whenever I boot Windows. I never did let it finish (I just skipped it). I’ll let it run (will take a long time) and try booting it again. I think I ran in to this problem before and letting chdisk finish its thing seemed to work.

No, I finally just gave up and nuked my Boot Camp partition. I had started a new VM with Windows 7 anyway.
