Amazon shipped their Kindle app for the iPhone. I guess it’ll be handy to have another copy of my books around when traveling or waiting, but I can’t see this becoming my primary device. The LCD is just nowhere as readable as the eInk in my Kindle 1. Kudos to Amazon on a decent startup [...]

While there's nothing I think I'll be upgrading for (I'm very happy with my Kindle 1), there are a couple things I thought were potentially good improvements: Slimmer: now just 1/3 inch 20% faster page turns. Some of the other changes -- improved display, longer battery life, more storage, text-to-speech -- really wouldn't matter much to me. The Kindle 1 was adequate on that front. Still, glad to see they're continuing to improve it. I'd love to see it really take off to the mass market.

I still don’t understand why Amazon doesn’t support Wishlists for their Kindle. I realized tonight that their new Universal Wishlist feature allows for a solid workaround. Here’s how: Go to the Universal Wishlist page Add the browser button Go to the Kindle book you want to add to your Wishlist Click the “Add to Wish [...]

Another strike against Amazon’s Kindle store: no wish lists. I wanted to store up some titles that I was interested in on a list so I could just pick them off at my leisure. No go. As far as I can tell, you can’t actually add a Kindle book to a wish list. Makes sense [...]

Amazon’s Kindle forums recently had good instructions on how to convert Microsoft Reader (.lit) files to Kindle’s .prc format. You can also simply email your Kindle a Microsoft Word doc and it’ll convert it for you for $0.10 (pays for the Sprint wireless airtime I suspect.)
